Over the years, Swarovski has collaborated with numerous brands. From Skims to Supreme, everyone recognizes their stuff is better when bedazzled. But this one, by far, seems to be the most creative collab that they’ve ever come up with.
Brazilian streetwear brand, Piet, has recently launched their capsule collection with Swarovski. What it lacks in the number of choices is generously made up in the designs and the thought behind each piece. The collection is inspired by the peeling walls of Brazil. This Sao Paulo-based streetwear brand is known worldwide for showcasing Brazilian influences and Brazilian culture in its pieces. This collaboration has brought together the grittiness of the peeling walls of Brazil and the sophistication of the Swarovski crystals, a contrast that makes for unique, never-seen-before designs.
This unique 6-piece collab collection consists of a pair of boots, a hoodie, a pair of denim pants, a denim jacket and an oversized t-shirt. The Piet x Swarovski boots may rightfully be the showstopper. The boots are hand-painted and studded with asphalt stones, which, mind you, are already sold out on their website.
Piet’s creative director Pedro Andrade told Hype beast how this theme of the peeling walls of Brazil came about. He has been collecting images of these walls in Sao Paulo and the rest of Brazil over the years. He found a strange beauty in the peeling of paint and superimposed posters. The layers reveal a mixture of colors and make a texture that Andrade grew obsessed with. This mixture of revealed colors has helped him with color combinations numerous times. He considers it an involuntary art, that despite being human-made, has a life of its own.
Launched online on July 26, Piet x Swarovski is an out-of-the-box capsule collection that is refreshing to see in the streetwear scene.
